Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Dispatch Platform Style Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Toyota RAV4. Now this is going to be a bike rack capable of fitting on a lot of different types of vehicles, not only our RAV4, but it's rated to be used on motor homes, fifth wheels, travel trailers. So if you maybe did have a second vehicle that was towing a trailer that you also wanted to use this bike rack with, you could. But personally, if you're just putting it on the RAV4, I think there are some better options out there and we'll talk about that a bit later. You can make that decision for yourself. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at how the Swagman E-Spec fits on the 2021 Toyota Highlander. So this is gonna be the updated design for the Swagman E-Spec where you have a higher weight capacity of 80 pounds per bike and you have the ability to use this with the ramp and bridge add-on sold separately. In the case of the Toyota Highlander, because of how high this sits, I actually recommend taking a look at that add-on for your extra heavy electric bikes. So let's talk about things like that. When you look at bike racks, you wanna consider if this gives you access to your hatch, things like that. In the case of the E-Spec, it's a lot more fixed compared to your other bike racks. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we have the Inno Tire Hold HD Dual Wheel Mount Bike Rack, and we're gonna take a look at how it fits on our 2021 Toyota Highlander. So the Tire Hold HD is gonna be your dual wheel mount rack, which means that there's zero frame contact. Plus, something unique to this is its extra high weight capacity of 80 pounds for your bikes. Now, for your total, try not to go over 150 pounds, and then have your heaviest bike towards your Highlander. Now, when focusing on the Highlander though, there are some different things when it comes to the fit, like how this does not tilt down far enough in order to open up your hatch, and depending on your hitch receiver, you may or may not be able to use the anti-rattle bolt. more

Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Piston SR with hitch adapter, and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Toyota Tacoma. So when it comes to bike racks on your truck, you've got options. You can always go with the tailgate pad, but sometimes it's just not feasible. If you've got a tonneau cover or a bed full of stuff, then the hitch is the best place to go after that. And especially with this one that we're looking at today, being a 1-bike rack, if it's just you, then why bother with a tailgate pad Even on the smaller sizes, they can accommodate up to two bikes and will take up almost half your tailgate, sometimes blocking things like your backup camera. more

A SuperClamp is actually something considered as like a hidden gem because it's a dual-wheel mount rack with a bunch of functionality that you would not expect. If you have a bike of pretty much any shape or size, this can carry it with a 60 pound weight capacity, fender capability, carbon fiber frame, all that's perfectly fine. Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks SE Sport Rider for four bikes on the 2023 Toyota Highland. Now, this is gonna be a great choice if you go riding with a bunch of friends and need to haul those heavier like e-bikes, since it can haul four bikes up to 50 pounds each. Another thing to note is we're gonna have three tight on points. We're gonna have one on each tire using this hook and loop strap and then one at the top of the frame here using just this hook. Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we have the Swagman Current 2-Bike Platform Rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. Right off the bat, if you wanna carry around extra heavy electric bikes, I know your options are limited with the Camry, because you have an inch and a quarter hitch receiver. So whenever you do have to carry those heavy bikes, please double check their weight, see if you can take off the batteries, if they are removable, also, better for the battery life to do that and keep them in your car, and make sure you don't exceed your tongue weight capacity. So with that being said, the Swagman Current will help you out with carrying around those bikes. This is designed to fit in those inch and a quarter hitches, you do have some premium features here to make it easier to live with heavy bikes, one of them is gonna be it has a tilt away lever. That bright green lever, if you pull that or I guess lift it, you can drop this rack down to a tilt, and that allows you to open up the trunk. more

Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. So right off the bat, we did put a hitch receiver on this Camry in order to carry around a hitch-mounted bike rack like this. It was an inch and a quarter hitch, which kind of limited our options, but even then, the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 is a great match. It's lightweight, it's affordable, and it has that nice platform rack design which gives you that extra stability. So compared to hanging racks, your bikes are gonna be a lot more stable on this rack. Now, since it is an entry level bike rack though, you do lose out on some premium features you expect with the more premium racks. more

Now it does have a lot of touch points, a lot of little straps and things to hold the bike in place, so that can be a little bit unfriendly at first while you're getting used to the bike rack. But I think it does a number of things really well. It holds the bike in place really solidly, that grants it a 70 pound weight capacity per bike. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hey, everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Piston Pro on our 2023 Toyota RAV4. Now, the Piston Pro is going to be a platform-style bike rack, able to accommodate up to two bikes with an individual weight capacity of 67 pounds each. Our two main points of contact are going to be on our front and back tire, this dual wheel mount design that have two ratcheting arms that hold it by the tires. So what all that means together is that we're going to be able to accommodate a wide variety of bikes, whether it's an e-bike, a carbon frame bike, or even our alternative frame bikes. One thing really nice about the Piston Pro is it does come with a tilt away feature, has a lever that sits in the middle of the rack, and as we slowly tilt our rack away from our vehicle, we do have the full hatch access. more

Hey, everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 on our 2023 Toyota RAV4. Now the Destination series of bike racks is actually going to be my preferred series of bike racks when it comes to entry-level, and the Destination 4 actually does a really good job at holding up to four bikes individually, with a individual weight capacity of 35 pounds each. Because it is a more entry-level bike rack, it does lack some of the advanced features, like a tilt-away, and other things that we'll get into a little bit later. But overall, I am very happy with the rack itself. It's a very easy way just to throw on four bikes and hit the road. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR platform style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is going to be a four-bike rack capable of carrying up to four bikes. It's gonna be a pretty easy system to use because it makes no frame contact, holds the bike by the front tire and the back wheel. The back wheel is held in by a wheel strap and that front tire uses a wheel hook. The hook is the thing that primarily keeps this upright and in place and the back strap provides stability. more

So for this bike rack, it is really popular, because of its versatility where you get the premium features like tilt away and the 60 pound per bike weight capacity at a slightly more affordable price than the other premium bike racks. It's still a solid bike rack though, and I recommend it almost every single time. With the Highlander, there are some things to consider, like the Highlander's hitch does sit a little bit higher up, so you are having to lift your bikes a bit more to get them onto the rack. This particular one is gonna be a dual wheel mount style, which means we're holding the bike by the tires on both sides using these integrated wheel hoops. Now, for this type of style, it's not gonna make any frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, good for some of our e-bikes too. Like many other platform racks, you do have the ability to tilt this away with the bikes loaded. more

No straps or anything else so this is the only place that's gonna hold onto your bike and it does make frame contact so if you wanna use your carbon frame bikes, we'd recommend against it 'cause it could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. And if you have a really aggressive alternative frame you might have to pick up a bike adapter bar. A really simple entry level bike rack. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The Curt Premium is a hanging style bike rack capable of supporting four bikes up to 180 pounds total. It's going to hold onto our bikes primarily by the top tube with one anti-sway cradle here in the back. It does taper down towards the end to accommodate some kids' bikes, but if you do have an aggressive alternative frame style bike you might have to pick up a bike adapter bar to make it work. Also, if you have carbon frame bikes, we'd recommend using against this type of rack because it does make that primary frame contact and could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

So if you're familiar with the Swagman XC2 that's really popular because it's affordable, it's lightweight, it's compact. This takes those features, but it now adds the tilt to it. So there's pros and cons to it. The main pro is its affordability. Now the downside is you're gonna have to go through a little bit of extra work to get your bike on there and it can't carry every single bike. more

RockyMounts RV and Camper Bike Racks Review - 2022 Toyota Tundra- Video
Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty SwingAway Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. So, like it looks right now, the big benefit of this is that it's a swing away bike rack. So, for your trucks it's gonna be a really solid fit because it allows full clearance with your tailgate and full access to it where we don't have something in our way, so if we need to get something loaded or unloaded, hop in the back or just have a place to sit. One, we have clearance because a lot of times even with a bike rack tilts away, it doesn't have full clearance, and you'll see that a little bit later, but even when it does have full clearance, it's still sitting in front of the tailgate and it doesn't give us a good place to sit. more

RockyMounts RV and Camper Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away bike rack on the back of our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is gonna be, like I said, a swinging bike rack. What that means is we've got it loaded up like a normal bike rack but we've got this swing base arm at the bottom so it does have the ability to tilt away from the vehicle. I'll show you with the handle underneath you can pull it, tilt the whole rack down and use that to get quick and easy hatch access. Even on the 4Runner here with the very large hatch, it still does clear with plenty of room because of how aggressively it tilts. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Toyota Prius v- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at how the Saris SuperClamp EX two bike platform rack fits on the 2014 Toyota Prius V. So the SuperClamp EX is very versatile because you have an 1 1/4" shank as well as a included 2" hitch adapter. With a 60 pound weight capacity per bike whether you have your light bikes or your heavier bikes, it can work with them. Now there's some downsides to this too which it does take a little bit more extra effort to get things lined up. With that 2" hitch adapter, I cannot use the hitch pin alignment collar so I'm gonna have to do this manually every time I play it into my hitch. So now that hitch pin hole on the bike rack is aligned with the hitch pin hole on the vehicle. more

So the Kuat Transfer is pretty popular because of its unique goal post design. You have more space on the inside making it easier for you to mount or dismount your bikes. And especially if you get the four bike versions this can be very, very helpful. It has some downsides too, like limited clearance when you wanna lower your tailgate. So, the Destination Two is pretty popular, because it's an affordable way to get a lightweight platform rack. Now, if you're looking for something that has a lot of weight capacity for electric bikes, or can tilt away, this is not the one. But, for something that you can pack up and keep, even inside your cab, or really easy to take off and put into your hitch, you might be interested in a Destination Two. Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The OnRamp is a platform style bike rack. It's gonna hold the bikes in these trays and primarily by our frame up top. We have this cradle with a strap run around the frame to hold it in place as well as two wheel straps in the bottom that pull the bike down and in. The result is actually a really strong hold. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Thule Helium Platform XT on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Helium's gonna be a platform style bike rack like the name suggests, it's gonna hold the bike in these trays and by our wheels. You've got a dual wheel mount design here holding the bike by each tire. That means zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and it does have a 45 pound weight capacity per bike, so not the best option for e-bikes. I think overall it works fairly okay on the RAV4, although there are some concerning fitment issues that we'll point out as the video goes on, but just know that kind of going into it. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination e-bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. Now, like the name suggests this is going to be a bike rack tailored towards e-bikes. It's got a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, so it's a little bit heavier, a little bit more than the typical 60 pounds you might see in a lot of other bike racks. So if you've got a heavier e-bike this might be a great way to go, plus it's gonna be really easy to operate, like we'll show you later in the video. It's gonna hold the bike in these trays with three straps at the bottom, but primarily with our frame clamp up top that just tightens down around the frame. more

The StageTwo is a platform style bike rack that holds the bike in these trays and by our front tire using the wheel hook. That's gonna make so it has zero frame contact on the actual bike, making it good for carbon frame bikes like you see here, alternative frame bikes and even some e-bikes with that 70 pound weight capacity per bike, giving that a little bit of an edge above the standard 60 pounds you might see on other e-bike compatible bike racks. This does have the ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded. more
